Sooooo amp’d to jet out to a Hollywood studio and record some guitars with Portrait Of A Friend on Wednesday.
A three day adventure fueled by a little luck + persistence.
.
How this all came together…
.
This past September, I had an overwhelming desire to play music with others. I’ve been playing guitar since I was 8, and really haven’t done much save for many living room performances, a few open mic nights, and a handful of home recordings that resided only in my iPod.
…but in September, that all changed.
.
Fervently crawling Craigslist to seek others to collaborate with, I finally stumbled upon two great opportunities to grow as a musician.
.
The first being Portrait Of A Friend, an electro/pop-rock project…great vibe….great energy. James Egbert is triple threat. The producer/songwriter/dance floor maniac, is responsible for writing all of POAF’s material.
.
The second, Daryn Belinsky, is a very talented pianist/vocalist. If you follow my YouTube channel, she is the one I’m playing “Kids” by MGMT with. Make sure to check out her cover of “Destiny” by Zero 7.
.
I feel extraordinarily lucky meeting both James and Daryn, having such great musical outlets, and transcending new levels as an individual.
.
Cue up the Phantom Planet.…cause here I come…
